Fake news, hate messages: The EU is now considering a fine of more than a billion dollars against X, the short message service of tech billionaire Elon Musk, formerly known as Twitter.
The Platform of the Tesla and SpaceX boss is accused of violating the editions to combat illegal content and disinformation on the internet, the newspaper “New York Times” reported Thursday, referring to four insiders.

The measures must be announced in the summer. According to one of the insiders, the fine could exceed a billion dollars. An example must be set on X to scare other companies from violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA), the newspaper continued.
The EU statements, by X and Musk, were initially not available. The billionaire is a close adviser to US President Donald Trump. This has repeatedly complained about the EU procedure against American technology groups.
