The plans launched by US President Donald Trump to move the Palestinians that live in the Gaza Strip in neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan and then want to change the largely destroyed coastal strip into a “Riviera of the Middle -East”, have a great rejection in Europe and in countless Muslim states. Now Indonesia wants to participate more in resolving the conflict and making an offer to the Palestinians.
President Pabowo Subianto said on Wednesday: “We are ready to evacuate the wounded, the traumatized and the orphans.” He added that the affectors could stay in Indonesia until they were fully recovered from their injuries and that the situation in the Gaza Strip was safe for their return.
Indonesia wants to strengthen its role in the search for a solution for the conflict, according to the president, who is currently leaving a trip abroad that will also lead him to Turkey, Egypt and Qatar. Pabowo estimated that his country would take around 1000 people.
He had instructed his Foreign Minister to quickly discuss with the Palestinian side and other parties about how the affected those could be brought to Indonesia. The mainly Muslim country had already announced last year to send peacemakes to the Gaza Strip if necessary. Jakarta is committed to a two -state solution and has sent humanitarian aid.
Netanyahu: “Palestinians must be able to decide freely”
According to his announcement “Riviera”, Trump has specified: “Nobody will violent the Palestinians.” During his recent meeting with Trump in the White House, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured that people in Gaza “make the free decision possible where they want to go”. However, critics in Israel also doubt whether the decision would be voluntary in view of the great destruction in the Gaza Strip.
