Donald Trump wants to start drastically changing the policies of his predecessor Joe Biden on the first day of his presidency. He is planning a flood of decrees that will mainly focus on the areas of migration and energy policy.
In the first few hours after being sworn in on January 20, he plans a flurry of more than 25 executive orders and directives, as Reuters news agency has learned from several insiders. They should focus in particular on the areas of immigration and energy.
The orders on ‘Day One’ at the White House are intended to have a ‘major impact’ according to the ideas of the future president, two experts said. “The American people can be assured that on day one, President Trump will use his executive powers to fulfill the promises he made during his campaign,” said Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.
Delays possible
One of the insiders familiar with the Trump team’s plans said internally that they were aware that any action would require a tremendous amount of coordination between the government agencies involved. This may cause delays and reduce the total number of orders on the first day. Nevertheless, numerous further orders and directives are planned in the days and weeks to come.
