The number of Neos members has risen from 3,000 to nearly 3900 since the beginning of the year. The growth has already been registered during government negotiations, said Secretary General Douglas Hoyos. “We make politics at eye level.”
Politics is made with people, “not over their heads,” said Hoyos. The fact that people have more members shows that more and more Austrians wanted to change. “We do politics differently.”
Compared to other parties, the 3900 members are still relatively few: for example, the Greens have around 7,000, the Spö with the most members has more than 140,000.
With the Neos, membership costs are 84 euros per year, but there are also discounts. Members can vote in the party meetings.
