The Ukrainian President Wolodyymyr Senskyj accuses China of supplying Russia of weapons. “We believe that Chinese representatives are involved in the production of certain weapons on Russian territory,” he said in Kiev on Thursday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing rejected the allegations.
“This is important information; it is not very gratifying. We have finally received information that China delivers weapons to the Russian Federation. (…) We are ready to talk about it in detail,” said the Ukrainian president on Thursday.
Senskyj referred to information from the Ukrainian secret service (SBU) in a press conference (to see in the video above). According to his statement, this has proof that China Russia supports weapons. “We believe that Chinese representatives produce certain weapons on the territory of Russia,” said the president for press representatives.
With reference to the information about the secret service, Senskyj reported black powder and artillery. He did not say whether this last point should be artillery systems or grenades. The SBU will probably only publish details in the coming week, reported the Ukrainian online newspaper “Kyiv Independent”.
China denied: “Do not deliver weapons”
Beijing immediately denied: China once made fatal weapons available for none of the parties involved in the Ukraine crisis, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, Lin Jian, said Friday.
“The attitude of China towards the question in Ukraine was always clear,” said Lin. “China actively campaigned for a ceasefire -the end of the conflict and encouraged peace talks.” You reject unfounded accusations and political manipulation, he said.
Soldiers from China in Ukraine?
Last week, two Chinese citizens were captured in Eastern Ukraine, in the Donetsk area, which apparently fought alongside Russian troops. “We have information that there are many more Chinese citizens in the occupation units than just two,” Senskyj said on social media.
In the meantime, according to the Ukrainian secret service SBU, at least 155 Chinese hunters who supported Russia have been identified in the war against Ukraine. The Chinese arrest provides considerable diplomatic explosiveness, so far the government in Beijing has officially positioned itself as neutral.
