The daily newspaper “The Standard” was again sentenced to a funeral on Monday in connection with the report on a funeral, in which, according to report, an alleged SS number is sung. The former freedom of Johann Gudenus was successful in court.
Already in January, three FPö politicians had initially won a corresponding procedure for poor recovery. Now Gudenus was also successful in court, the Vienna confirmed Criminal Court.
Funeral as a starting point
The starting point was a funeral of a brotherhood that was worn on September 27, 2024 at the Hernals Cemetery. At his request, the song “When Elky Word Unfreithful” had been collected. A video of this was played on the “Standard”, which then reported that the FPö politician Martin Graf, Harald Stefan and Norbert Nemeth and Gudenus were not present at the funeral service, although the so-called “SS-Freulied” was sung at the open grave.
In particular, the participants argued that the version was sung there there was an older variant of the song. Only later was the number adapted by the SS. Nevertheless, the parliamentary immunity of the three active politicians was canceled in December by the National Council, so that investigations could be started by the office of the public attorney Van Vienna on suspicion of violation of the prohibition law.
Compensation and publication
Graf, Stefan and Nemeth have already won the process according to the Media Act. The court saw several articles the fact of the poorly fulfilled. The claimants received a reimbursement of a total of 20,250 euros. Gudenus, who is no longer politically active, strictly strictly focused on a procedure. On Monday the “standard” was sentenced to compensation and publication, as well as reimbursement of the costs. The newspaper was made full calling.
