The savings plans of the Federation are intended to limit network expansion and to reduce infrastructure investments by a maximum of 150 million euros-the Koralmbahn area would also be affected.
Fleckerltlutz instead of nationwide: the broadband expansion in Carinthia is currently promised by private providers, but nothing was held-the public sector hardly fulfills the broadband initiative subsidized by the EU. “Our network expansion diploma is far behind Romania and Bulgaria,” says Sebastian Schuschnig, Sebastian Schuschnig.
And fears that it gets worse: “The rumors of the federal government condense that broadband financing for three federal states must be stopped due to the savings package.” Styria, Upper Austria and especially Carinthia are hit, where projects are currently waiting for green light from Vienna for more than 50 million euros from 44 municipalities.
If this does not exist, the internet remains slow in the region. And also along the Koralbahn route, where Völkermarkt, Ruden or St. Paul still have no connection.
A disaster for showering: “Digital basic care is nowadays indispensable. Without that no company has been settled – a slap in the face for the entire rural area.” And also for the Karintic economy, because the planned infrastructure measures had caused up to 150 million euros in investments.
