Romania election – right candidate in the election elections, the government earlier

Date:

Due to the illegal influence of Russia, the presidential election in Romania was canceled last year. At that time, the judge addressed extremist and pro -Russian candidate Calin Georgescu on the Runoff election. The urn was repeated on Sunday – without Georgescu. Again, a right-wing politician moved to the Runoff election. In the meantime, the government coalition is confronted with the failure of its candidate.

The right -wing populist politician George Simion (38) finished in one place on Sunday by 40.96 percent, while the party -free Bucharest -Mayor Nicus received 20.99 percent of the votes and also received the Runoff election.

Decision about the future of Romania
Then a difficult final round adjusts. What is going on next time is de facto a debate about the future of Romania – namely whether the country falls asleep an enemy direction opposite the West or orientation, the liberal -conservative, Testeopian mayor made clear on Monday. Citizens are therefore asked to beat this “struggle” with him. It is his duty to convince people that the pro -Western path is the only right one. It’s not easy, but he remains optimistic “that we ultimately make it,” said the 55-year-old.

Simion did not take the journalists on the election evening-the 38-year-old, but preferred to contact his voters per video address. The politician of the Nationalist Alliance for the Union of the Romanians (AUR) assured that as President, as promised, he would be entrusted with a high office, the head of the government, as the country of the government, as the prorussic right -wing extremist Calin Georgescu.

Simion benefits from anger to established politicians
Georgescu, against which the office of the public prosecutor has been investigating since February, had appeared as Simion’s Ally. On election day, the two even went together demonstratively to vote. He then held his video address for an icon-based background. According to the Romanian political observers, the 38-year-old apparently copies the previous campaign strategy Georgescus: instead of participating in debates, he prefers to make prophetic announcements against mystic-religious background.

“This is not just an election victory,” said Simion in his first reaction. “It is a victory of Romanian dignity. It is the victory of those who have not given up hope of those who still believe in Romania in a free, respected and sovereign country.” Simion benefited from a wave of anger of the population to established politicians. He is critical about the EU and sees himself in line with US President Donald Trump. Simion argues for restoring national borders from 1940 and therefore claims areas of Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine.

Prime Minister apparently thinks of dismissal
The government coalition of Romania is confronted with the election of its candidate Crin Antonescu, who switched to the Runoff elections, despite the support of three government parties. In an urgency meeting on Monday morning, both top politicians of the Postcommunist Social Democrats (PSD) and the Liberals (PNL) called for the surrounding dismissal of the government and PSD boss Marcel Ciolacu. The unpopularity of it had led to a new selection of protests and turned out to be a clear “inhibition” for the coalition candidate Antonescu, the tenor said. According to unconfirmed media reports, Ciolacu should actually consider dismissing – whether it remains unclear at the moment or only after the drainage election remains unclear.
