The chairman of the PNV made these statements during the Alderdikide Eguna, in Maeztu, until those who he says were confronted with the jeltzale “ethical model”, “still not being able to call things by their name”, referring to the left abertzale
The chairman of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, has assured that in order to “completely” heal the wounds of the past, “it is necessary to call things by their name”, to say that “killing was wrong”that “ETA should never have existed” and that “We condemn all attacks and all violence”
Ortuzar made this reflection in the city of Alava, Maeztua day before the tribute prepared by the city council of Ermua (Bizkaia) in memory of PP councilor Miguel Ángel Blanco, who was kidnapped and murdered by ETA 25 years ago.
The leader of Jeltzale attended the fourth edition of the Alderdikide Eguna (Affiliate’s Day), an act that has served to protect the figures of the PNV’s Alava leaders. to remember Xavier Agirre and Felix Ormazabal recently passed away and which also included the president of the PNV da Álava, José Antonio Suso, and Senator Estefanía Beltrán de Heredia.
During his speech, Ortuzar pointed out that “to develop a healthy nationalist project this country can’t open the wounds of the past“, and has emphasized that “to fully heal these wounds, things must be called by their names” with the aim of “building a future together”.
Ortuzar has also maintained that his party “has always been on the right side of history, whether in the civil war, in the dictatorship, in the transition or in the ‘years of lead'”, something that, in his opinion , “not everyone in this country knows”
An allusion with which, as he has revealed, he wanted to appeal to those who, faced with the jeltzale “ethical model”, “still can’t call things by their name”.
“I mean those who get away with false statements, with their ‘yes but no’. I mean those who, 25 years laterstill seek refuge in generic explanations, but neither condemn nor apologize inflicted so much unfair damage,” clarified Ortuzar, who has demanded that no one now plans to “learn ethical lessons” from his party because “he is 25 years or more late”.
At another point in the law, the chairman of the PNV in Álava said, Jose Antonio Susocemphasized the commitment of Félix Ormazabal and Xabier Agirre and the work that both of them, as general representatives of Álava, have carried out “for the development of the Álava area and of a plural society requiring dialogue and agreement”.
For her part, Senator Estefania Beltran de Heredia has emphasized the importance of “acting locally amid this global convulsion” while advocating “being close to citizens to provide a rapid, flexible and accurate response” as the mayors have done “even in the most difficult times of the pandemic.
During the Alderdikide Eguna, which also included the Mayor of Arraia-Maeztu and President of the Cuadrilla de Montaña Alavesa, Anartz Gorrotxategicthe widows of Agirre and Ormazabal, respectively Mari Paz Garagalza and Elena Armengol, have received from Andoni Ortuzar a symbolic “argizaiola” and special photos.
