After the elections of the German Chancellor last Wednesday, fraud accusations are circulating online. The reason: Bundestag -President Julia Klöckner spoke in a video of 618 valid voices for a total of 613 members of the Bundestag.
Afterwards, some users on Facebook claimed that Friedrich Merz (CDU )’s choice was manipulated. “Where do the five other ballot papers come from? And where are the remaining members of the Bondstag because this corresponds to 630 members? Somehow I don’t like,” wrote a user, for example on Wednesday. “Bought a few voices quickly” or “the choice must be canceled,” others said.
However, the allegations lead to the void, as an APA -Feiten control now appears. After the elections in February, the German Bundestag consists of 630 MPs, which emerges from the official website. According to an article in the German Bundestag, 618 of them had cast their votes. Three voices were invalid, one person fired. 289 members elected Chancellor against Merz, 325 for him. 316 votes were necessary.
Here you can see the video in which the German Bond President President promises:
The president of the Bundestag had therefore promised, as the press department of the German Bundestag confirmed. This can be seen, for example, by the fact that it has a total of 630 members. The divided video clip itself is not a fake to see the assessment at the recording of the Federal Deag meeting. In the protocol to announce the election results, the announcer was corrected. 630 members are now mentioned for both election courses.
Two elections needed
As reported, two voice groups were necessary. The federal president had presented Merz as Chancellor, but in the first round he only received 310 votes instead of the required 316. The first attempt had chosen 621 MPs. The coalition actions have 328 votes, 208 of whom are not available for members of the Union and 120 to SPD MPs. The political groups have advised between the two electoral groups.
According to the German Bundestag, such a non -election in the first round does not yet exist in 20 earlier Chancellor elections. The Basic Act stipulates that the Bundestag can choose a Chancellor with more than half of its members within two weeks if no one is determined in the first vote.
