The current government period is characterized by saving, but there is some sugar. For example, employers can pay their employees a bonus of a maximum of 1000 euros without wages and income tax.
The premium was announced at the beginning of May and is part of the government’s tax package. “Everyone who brings performance must be rewarded,” announced Minister of Economy Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (ÖVP). Unlike in the past, the premium is no longer tied to collective contracts or business agreements.
Support came from the Industrial Association (IV) on Sunday. “The announced tax -free performance bonus is a real step to determine stimuli for individual performance and visibly rewarded, particularly devoted employees. The instrument has already proven itself in the past,” the IV emphasized.
