Marlaska admits “mistakes” in the bullet contract with Israel and guarantees ammunition for the bourgeoisie

Date:

The Minister of the Interior defends the cancellation due to the situation in Gaza and guarantees that there is no problem with a shortage of ammunition.

Minister of the Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska, on Wednesday in the congress of representatives acknowledged that the contract to acquire 15 million bullets from the Israeli company IMI Systems LTD, for a value of 6.8 million euros, has generated a problem because of “specific mermatches and errors” in his procurement. The head of the interior has personally taken responsibility, although it has emphasized that the procedure has been adapted to the legality.

The contract was criticized by the partners of the Government of Spain, in particular, because of the dedication of the executive, not to buy armament from Israel after the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza. For six months, the Ministry studied legal routes to cancel the prize and ultimately activate an “mechanism” that, according to Marlaska, has allowed the termination process, in a “coordinated” way with other departments and with the support of President Pedro Sánchez.

PP and Vox have censored the decision, given that “the civil protector punishes” and can cause a deficit. Marlaska has denied this possibility and ensured that the security forces and authorities of the state “have guaranteed their supplies” and have asked to avoid “suspected without basic”.

The minister has repeated the “strong commitment” of the government of Spain not to hire an arming with Israeli companies and has re -confirmed his compliance with the Palestinian case, which appeals to the urgent need to terminate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
