Reminder of the sacrifices – “7 minutes, 40 shots”: Polish tips close to tears

Date:

The parliament was planning on Monday at the start of the plenary session of the victims of the Graz -killing Spree with eleven deaths last Tuesday. National Councilor Walter Rosenkranz (FPö) had to struggle with tears in his speech several times in particular.

At the start of the session there was a minute of silence for the nine students killed and a teacher who also died.

“Unsertable disaster”
After that, the national council chairman Walter Rosenkranz (FPö) emphasized in his emotional speech: “Seven minutes, 40 shots, unbelievable. It is an unspeakable catastrophe, so I will not try to put this nightmare into words.” His voice stuck several times, the blue mandatar moisture tears.

The question of the “why” could not be answered in view of the perpetrator’s procedure. “What has a younger, nine other young people he doesn’t know and a teacher to kill without distinction?” Said Rosenkanz.

All of Austria mourn the victims and their family members. However, it is a good feeling when an attempt is made to donate, keep and create hope. According to the tragedy, politicians in the country would have a legacy of the victims of the madness. You will meet this responsibility.

Stocker speaks of “National Tragedy”
“I am standing here with a heavy heart today,” then Chancellor Christian Stocker (ÖVP) opened. The dead Spree is a “national tragedy of a dimension that was previously unknown to us” and this is a turning point.

The Chancellor also thanked all the emergency services that traded with courage and determination. His attraction for all factions: “I ask them all: we give each other hand. We show what Austria is. A society of responsibility, respect and humanity.”

“We have to ask ourselves how we make schools safer and how we reach people with psychological problems,” said Stocker. In this way every school must develop a security concept that is also regularly evaluated. Access to weapons must be “even more responsible”. In this way there must be limitations on risk groups and that data exchange has improved.

Babler wants to take responsibility
Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler (Spö) added: “There is really no reason why you should be able to buy a shotgun with 18 without a strict test.” The Spö -Baas emphasized: “We cannot reverse what happened, but we must take responsibility and we will do that.” Every child must grow up to safety.

Arms law is tightened
The federal government will initiate a considerable tightening of the weapon weapon in the coming days. “We will considerably limit access to weapons for certain groups of people and make weapons more difficult,” said Babler.

Neos boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger emphasized an enormous increase in psychosocial support, which has already been taken into account. More than 20 million euros would be available for the full expansion: “Our safety starts with good mental health.”

The coalition assessed the coalition that a package will be presented to the ministerial council this week and that the National Council makes the greatest possible flexibility on the Matura at the affected school possible. This will also be possible to graduate without an oral entrance exam. Moreover, an aid fund is established, which is said to help pay the affected costs of the funeral and the therapy, for example.

Kickl wants to think “carefully” through measures
What happened in Graz is “part of the worst that a person can happen”, FPö -Baas Herbert Kickl emphasized. In one fell, only “pain, emptiness and despair” for the relatives remains. “We are all with our thoughts and wishes and prayers with the victims, the relatives and the wounded,” said Kickl: “Despite the participation and compassion, we must be clear: it is always a compassion and condolences, there is no other way, because no one can lose the pain in all the dimension. We can’t do it – but we can’t do it.”

The question is, how can we reconcile the right to safety and protection with the right to freedom, says Kickl. Or what can politically prevent such events from discretion. According to Kickl, however, it is not the time to announce the solution to a problem. Let’s think carefully about things, let’s think and determine and holistic action. ”

Kogler again argued for “freedom of weapons”
Greens -Baas Werner Kogler pointed out that Parliament had the task of drawing conclusions from this tragedy. There can be no “100 percent security”, Kogler says: “But we have to do everything we can to reduce the chance of madness.”

Again, Kogler argued for a reversal of the principles when it comes to possession of weapons: “We need a freedom of arms, not for weapons to create more safety. That is the basic demand that some people are about to cheat.”
