EH Bildu has requested that the compensation given be “fair and reasonable”. Since it is voted on in the Commission with full legislative power, the rule does not have to go to the plenary, but goes straight to the Senate for final green light.

The Working Committee of the Congress of Deputies unanimously approved the bill this Wednesday to establish an asbestos victims’ compensation fund, which will go directly to the Senate for final approval.
EH Picture recalled that this line comes from a legal initiative of the Basque Parliament and has requested that the compensation given be “fair and reasonable”.
“It is good news that the compensation fund is finally taking shape and respecting the spirit of the text approved by the Basque Parliament.”

The articles of the standard have continued with the support of all groups who came together to emphasize the need for recovery an “injustice” and have had words of support for all victims of asbestos exposure
The text provides that compensation for damage to health resulting from exposure to asbestos suffered by a person “in their work, domestic or environmental area in Spain, as well as those (…) who are financially dependent on the deceased”.
The fund will be managed by the National Institute of Social Security and will include credits or transfers determined in the General State Budget, as well as other contributions, such as, for example, sanctions for companies.
Socialist deputy Mercé Pérea has indicated that at the start of the fund there will be an allocation from this year’s general budget of €25 million
Since it is voted on in the Commission with full legislative power, the rule does not have to go to the plenary, but goes straight to the Senate for final green light.
Once published in the BOE, the text provides a maximum timeframe of three months for the development of the regulations necessary to initiate and launch the fund’s operations.
