Northern Ireland, a major LGBT charity, has left the UK government equality conference below due to LGBT conversion therapy.

Project Rainbow noted the government’s statement that transgender people are excluded from plans to ban conversion therapy in England and Wales.

No support opens for the government’s Safe To Be Me conference, the first global LGBT+ conference to be held in London at the end of June.

The LGBT Advocacy Organization said the boycott would extend to any proposed Northern Ireland event coinciding with the conference.

Conversion therapy is a practice that seeks to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, according to NHS England.

The government said last week it was banning conversion therapy for gays and bisexuals in England and Wales, but not for transgender people.

The announcement came hours after he announced he would completely end plans to ban it, following criticism from LGBT groups and lawmakers.

Project Rainbow said it was ready to get a “total ban on diversion therapy on these islands,” describing the practice as “painful and degrading.”

It reads: “The UK government plans to exclude transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people from the proposed ban on conversion therapy.

“It is a shame that the government announced this on Transparency Day.”

The Safe To Be Me conference, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first official Pride Parade in London, is said to have been a “time to celebrate”.

“However, the UK government’s procrastination, conflicting messaging and commitment to protect some of our community’s most vulnerable members leave us with no choice but to boycott this event,” he added.

The government plans to ban treatment that seeks to alter an individual’s sexuality, but not practices that seek to alter an individual’s sexual identity.

Some groups have called for a ban on transgenderism.

Nick and Costa, a former director of government legislation, warned that elements of gender identity proposals could have “disastrous consequences for children with gender dysphoria”.

He told the BBC that doctors, therapists and parents were reluctant to explore any other feeling with their children for fear of being told they were trying to change the child’s identity.

“We will not issue a ban that does not protect our transgender, Arab and other gender communities,” said John Odorty, Rainbow Project Director.

“This government has consistently failed to fulfill its obligations to eliminate LGBT people and other personalities and personalities, particularly the inequality in gender, transgender, and nonbinary diversity. We cannot and will not support it.

“Conversion therapy is performed daily for LGBT people on these islands. It can be shrouded in mystery, religious belief or so-called therapy. But every day without ban is a day when LGBTQI+ people risk losing their lives.”

Last year, the Stormont Assembly passed a motion asking the Communities Minister to introduce legislation to ban conversion therapy.
