Belfast passengers affected after easyJet cancels 100 flights due to Covid absence

Date:

EasyJet at Belfast International Airport

easyJet canceled up to 100 flights on Monday, including the Gatwick route to Belfast, due to the high level of staff absences due to Covid.

The airline’s ongoing delays have left many passengers in travel chaos at some of the UK’s largest airports, with 62 flights from the UK suspended on Monday.

The low-cost airline said it was trying to fix the problem with waiting staff, but had to “cancel early”.

This comes after an increase in demand for airline travel ahead of the Easter school holidays.

A spokesperson for Belfast International Airport said on Monday: “Today we have a canceled flight arriving from Gatwick at 8pm and returning at 8.30pm. These passengers will be accommodated on other flights and will be contacted directly by the airline.”

EasyJet said cancellations were only a small percentage of Monday’s schedule, on nearly 1,645 flights.

Arrivals from Gatwick to Belfast International Airport at 20:00 p.m. Monday and the other return at 20:30 have been cancelled.

An easyJet spokesperson said on Monday: “Unfortunately, some additional cancellations were required for today and tomorrow. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

EasyJet is one of the largest airlines in Europe.

Airports also have a staff shortage, which results in long lines for security and inspections.

How to apply for a refund from easyJet

An easyJet spokesperson confirmed that it has contacted the affected users.

They have the option of booking an alternative flight or getting a voucher or refund.

The site adds: “If your flight is cancelled, you have several options that you can request quickly and easily by logging into our booking site or via our easyJet app:
