The Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz emphasized that his country had killed the highest leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the twelve -day war between the two countries if it had had the opportunity. “If he had been in our sights, we would have eliminated it,” Katz emphasized.

“We wanted to eliminate Khamenei, but there was no surgical option,” Katz added in an interview with the radio station. When he was asked whether Israel has obtained the permission from the United States for such an action, Katz said: “We do not need a permit for this.”

Hidden in the underground
The Israeli army also searched intensively for Khamenei – but did not find it. “Khamei went deep into the underground and broke contact with the commanders … so it was in the end unrealistic,” Katz said. Earlier in the television channel channel 13 he had said that Israel would hire the attempts to kill because “there is a difference between time before and after ceases -the fires”.

Katz had said during the war that Khamenei considered his goal the destruction of Israel. “Such a man should not exist further.”

Iran announces “historical” funeral service
In the meantime, Iran announced that the funeral service should be planned on Saturday “historical” dimensions for the military leaders and nuclear scientists who were killed in the Israeli attacks. First there will be a ceremony in the famous place of the revolution in the center of Tehran, religious representative Mohsen Mahmoudi said on Friday at the state of television. “Then the martyr’s procession will go to the place of freedom” – this is about eleven kilometers away.

“Tomorrow will be a historic day for Islamic Iran and the history of the revolution,” said the religious representative of the province of Tehran. “60 martyrs of all social classes” must be buried. It first remained open or Khamenei will participate in the funeral service.

Israel launched an important attack on Iran on 13 June and in particular bombed nuclear facilities and military facilities in the country for days. Iran then attacked Israel in exchange with rockets and drones. The US Army also intervened and bombed Iranian nuclear facilities. On Tuesday, after twelve days of war, a cease -the fires came into effect between the two countries.
