Debacle for Klingbeil – Red Double Leaders: with her SPD – Hiring to the left

Date:

Debacle for Lars Klingbeil (47): On Friday, the German Vice Chancellor was hardly scratched along the historically worst election result of an SPD leader. His now co-chairman Bärbel Bas (57) of the left party wing, however, is the reinforcement of the party congress.

Klingbeil lost to the support of the base after the election malaise and the conversion of party leadership. The party congress in Berlin chose him again with 65 percent. In 2023, however, he had received 85.6 percent of the votes of the delegates.

Bas goes to the place of Esken
Minister of Labor Bärbel Bas of the Left Party Wing received considerably more votes as an equal co-chairman of 95 percent. Together they now form the SPD party tip. So Bas puts Saskia Esken, who was controversial in the party and was strongly responsible for the defeat in the earlier federal elections with 16.4 percent.

Klingbeil, on the other hand, had launched a new party and faction management after the elections and led the coalition negotiations with the Union. In the party this was sometimes seen as an excessive pursuit of power, and Klingbeil and Esken also have responsibility for the election destruction. Moreover, some state associations, such as Hesse, felt transferred to the government, party and parliamentary group.

Bas as the left contrarywight to Klingbeil
In the future, Bas is to embody the left -wing -controlwight to the pragmatic Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance Klingbeil, who belongs to the conservative Seeheimer Kreis in the SPD.

In her first days as Minister of Labor, Bas made clear where she was. In the future, she also called on civil servants and independent people to take out legal pension insurance – and therefore caused shameful contradiction at the Union. At the party congress, however, she did not give up and said that “it was about acceptance for an honest system in which all employees are employed.”

“Solidary society with good work”
In her speech, she focused on the demand for a solidarity company with good work. They criticized sharp attempts to make the term ‘welfare state’ a curse word and to talk about so -called lazy Germans. This is “shameless steps”.
