Foreign tractors, against which criminal proceedings run in Hungary, can be released from 19 August without judgment. The background is a corresponding decision of the government. The criminals only have to admit their debt and leave Hungary within 72 hours of legal strength.
Moreover, human retailers must announce the circumstances of crime. The public prosecutor, the suspect or his defense can strive for the corresponding procedure. The government’s decision relates to the emergency situation that has been in Ukraine since the war.
The right -wing government of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had already decided in April 2023 to leave human retailers for free. According to RTL, since then, more than 2500 tugboats have come from the prisons of the Middle European country. The government argued that the detention centers were overcrowded and that they did not want to keep the tractors at the expense of the Hungarian taxpayers.
Exit cannot be checked
Chancellor Minister Gulyás, however, admitted that the government could not check whether the released tugboats actually leave. Some are already caught in the same activity, Hungarian media reported.
The EU committee had therefore sued the Hungary government for the EUR Päische Court of Justice (ECJ). In the case of dragging migrants, appropriate and deterrent sanctions should be imposed, it said of Brussels.
