The President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, has recently acknowledged that they are not meeting the schedule agreed with the Basque government and even questioned whether they will eventually transfer some of the pending powers.
The Minister of Territorial Policy of the Spanish Government, Elizabeth Rodriguezand the Minister of Self-government of the Basque Government, Olatz Garamendicwill meet next friday July 29 in Leioa (Bizkaia) to try to clear up the delay in the transfer of powers.
Rodríguez will take advantage of his presence in the Basque Country next Friday at the preparatory meeting with the Autonomous Communities of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union to be held in Leioa to meet with the Basque minister, as confirmed by sources from the Basque government.
The appointment comes after the inconvenience caused in the Executive of Iñigo Urkullu by the words of Pedro Sánchez in the Debate on the State of the Nation.
In response to the PNV, the president of the Spanish government assumed: “certain paralysis” in the process of ongoing transfers and even considered it “difficult to assume” four powers included in the scheme his government has drawn up and handed over to the Basque government in 2020.
