Öffi-Sager von Ludwig – On mask muffle: “Almost adolescent urges”

Date:

The mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) continues to adhere to the mask requirement on public transport. Also “a large part” of the population is based on this. The rest should not be brought before the curtain.

Patchwork in the corona measures, the work on mandatory vaccination – and the federal government has declared the pandemic over more times than the Rolling Stones have declared their careers. In addition, Viennese tightening, which not everyone can always understand (subway in Vienna: FFP2 obligation vs. train in St. Pölten: mask does not matter). Given this series of bankruptcies, it should come as no surprise that the mask requirement in the Vienna public transport system is not a resounding success. More and more passengers are now doing it without FPP2 protection.

Number of infections increases significantly
However, for Mayor Michael Ludwig, his Viennese path is still a success. “I travel a lot by public transport and see that a large part of the population is guided by the masks.”

And further: “On the one hand out of self-protection and on the other out of responsibility towards other people. I think that charity and solidarity are great character traits that need to be strengthened, not those who try to push the boundaries out of an almost adolescent urge.” All this is also underlined by the fact that throughout Austria the number of infections is “increasing significantly”.

How will the Vienna road continue, given these signs? City head Ludwig will again consult with his experts.
