“Smartest minds” – Former board member of E-Control now advises Gewessler

Date:

In view of the current crisis, Energy Minister Leonore Gewessler wants to bring “the brightest minds and the best ideas” to the department. Henceforth, former E-Control board member Walter Boltz is also one of the “smartest minds”. Until the end of 2022, Gewessler will support the minister as a strategic advisor for the energy supply.

“I’m sure he will make an important contribution,” Gewessler said in a broadcast on Monday. In addition to his work as a member of the Board of Directors of E-Control, Boltz also held various positions in the international energy industry. Most recently, Boltz has worked as a consultant for self-employed clients at home and abroad.

The politics and energy industry are currently facing major challenges and difficult decisions due to the war in Ukraine and the climate crisis. “To provide the right answers through politics requires a deep understanding of the European and Austrian energy industries. I want to contribute here and get involved where I am needed,” said Boltz.

Ex-Shell Chief Strategist Cancelled
According to media reports, oil and gas expert Karl Rose should have advised the minister of green energy at the request of the ÖVP. After the contract with the climate department had gone unsigned for several weeks, Rose, former chief strategist at oil company Shell, resigned. The rejection was preceded by a debate about a possible incompatibility with his OMV mandate of the supervisory board.
