The ÖVP is battling the FPÖ for second place and the Greens have also lost three percentage points in about two years of government. But the common values are even worse: the government has less than a third of the population behind it. Even the chancellor described these values as “not good” in recent summer talks.
100 km/h on the Autobahn?
The maxim to combine the ‘best of both worlds’ seems a difficult task even in the current crisis. The start of the CO2 tax, which was only enforced last year, has already been postponed until October, but the call for another postponement will not be silenced. On the other hand, there has been a discussion for weeks about whether there should be a 100 km/h speed limit on the highways in view of the war. But there wouldn’t be a majority for that.
Kogler: “The sanctions are working!”
In view of these efforts, the FPÖ in particular has called for a reconsideration of sanctions against Russia. Not with Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, because: “The sanctions are working,” he says in an interview with Katia Wagner. Everything else is a “lie” and “the story of the Russian warmongers”.
