Gave Kickl a Basket – “For a Tragedy”: That’s How Wallentin’s Election Campaign Will Be

Date:

For a long time, Krone columnist Tassilo Wallentin hesitated and hesitated whether or not to run for the German presidency. So now he wants.

There were talks with FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl, which, however, did not lead to any results. Kickl wanted Wallentin to run for the Hofburg as an FPÖ candidate. Wallentin, on the other hand, wanted to remain an independent candidate, albeit with the support of the Blues.

Apparently at very short notice, the lawyer decided to get on the ballot alone – without a party in the background. For this he must collect 6000 statements of support. He only has 20 days to do that.

Wallentin mainly wants to win over non-voters
What led to the far-reaching decision? “Alexander Van der Bellen presides over a section of the Austrian population that is doing well. But for many people it is not an option. These people have at their disposal a kind of ‘joke candidate’ and a ‘party soldier’ of an opposition party who is almost tearing itself apart as an electoral alternative. I stand up for these people, who otherwise might prefer not to vote at all,” Wallentin told the Krone.

Above all, Wallentin wants to put the “plight of the people in the country” at the heart of his candidacy and present credible concepts against impoverishment. “Our politicians have completely lost sight of the needs of the people and we are facing a tragedy,” Wallentin said.

What does the lawyer mean by credible concepts? “Increase the minimum pensions. Relieve the middle class. Finally, manage immigration, which costs us billions, wisely. And we have to stop the ECB (European Central Bank, ed.).”

Tassilo Wallentin’s last column will appear in the “Krone bunt” next Sunday.
