Four states already do not want infected teachers to teach – thereby defying the wishes of the Minister of Education.
“We prefer to deviate from the federal solution,” says the state government of Salzburg. This would make Salzburg the fourth federal state after Vienna, Burgenland and Carinthia that does not want to allow corona-positive teachers in the classroom – and thus clearly contradicts the wishes of Education Minister Martin Polaschek (ÖVP).
States can decide on rules in compulsory schools
According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, asymptomatic corona-infected people are allowed to work if they wear an FFP2 mask. Polaschek confirmed at the beginning of the week that this should also apply to teachers. However, Polaschek cannot do this for all schools. Because the compulsory schools are run by the states and not by the federal government.
The Minister of Education now wants to have a conversation with the Salzburg State Council Daniele Gutschi (ÖVP). Because if other countries join this attitude, there is no longer a uniform path.
