The President of UPN, Xavier Esparza, has accused the People’s Party of give the Navarra Suma coalition “final” -consisting of UPN, PP and C’s- “one-sided” because “it puts its own acronyms in front of it”.
The regionalist has spoken in this way after the deputy secretary of the Organization of the PP, Miguel Telladoin an interview given to the newspaper ABChas stated that his party is “all that will emerge” in the next autonomous election to present itself under the acronym, but without ruling out a coalition with UPN.
In statements to Europa Press, Javier Esparza states that “it is clear that the PP considers Navarra Suma (NA+) closed and thus, unilaterally and through the media, is breaking up the only project that had managed to turn the center right in all of Spain”.
He has also criticized Tellado’s statements stating that “uniting the center right is about the PP’s initials”. According to Esparza, “the center right in Navarra It is articulated around UPN, the main party in Navarre. And not around the PP which weighs much less than UPN in the Autonomous Community. This is from the first year of primary school of politics in Navarra,” he condemned. “This is as good as it occurred to me to say that in Spain the union of the center right around the UPN should take place. Anyone would think that besides the love of colors I live on another planet. Well, this is the same. The one leading the centre-right in Navarra, not now but for many years, is UPN,” he repeated.
Javier Esparza has also stressed that: “UPN was very generous with the PP . in 2019. We gave up our acronym and welcomed a PP in low hours at the time because we thought it was best for Navarre.”
Regarding UPN’s stance on Navarra Suma’s continuity, he indicated that “what UPN has said is that” after the summer he makes the decisions within its collegiate bodies and that’s what it’s going to do”.
