The tests on two blood samples given by the cyclist on July 8 and 13 during the Tour de France 2022 revealed the presence of tramadol and its two main metabolites.

In accordance with the medical rules of the UCI, the rider is not qualified for the Tour de France 2022. This decision can be appealed before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within the next 10 days.

Quintana, who is ready to start the Vuelta, will exercise his right before TAS, announced after passing the pre-competition Covid tests with the rest of the team.
