Ratcliffe, the UK’s richest man, wants to buy United

Faced with the news that the Glazer family, which owns Manchester United, is willing to sell a small portion of its shares, Tycoon Jim Ratcliffe, the UK’s richest man, has shown his interest to buy, The Times reported.

A spokesman for Sir Jim Ratcliffe said: “If Manchester United is for sale, Jim is a potential buyer. We would be interested in discussing long-term ownership.”

So, Ratcliffe, billionaire owner of the company Ineos (of chemical products and raw materials), I would buy that little bundle of shares right away, pear over time to get a bigger percentage. The owner of Ineos tends to demand full control of the businesses he acquires. In this case, it will receive a package of minority shares if it is part of a plan to take control later.

Ratcliffe’s spokesman also said: “It’s not about money being spent or not being spent. Jim is looking at what can be done now and knowing how important the club is to the city, The time seems right for a new beginning”.
