The Los Angeles Lakers will retire the number 16 in honor of Spaniard Pau Gasol to pay tribute to the Spaniard’s long career in the Los Angeles franchise. The team announced this on its Twitter account after the Catalan played six seasons with the club, winning two rings with Kobe Bryant (2009 and 2010).
The act of tribute will take place on March 7, 2023 during the game they will play against the Grizzlies, another of their Spanish teams in the NBA.
