Belfast football agent runs marathon challenge in memory of his father David

Date:

The Northern Ireland football agent is running this year’s Belfast Marathon in memory of his late father, while raising money for Kidney Research UK.

Lee Moody, a spokesperson for the CAA World Sports Agency, lost his father, David, in 2002 to severe kidney disease.

David’s sudden death at the age of 47 came as a blow to Lee, who was a 21-year-old footballer at the time who was playing his professional career in France.

He later admitted: “My father was my teacher when it came to football, so when he died, my world collapsed.”

As a result, Lee’s football journey took him on a different path, and after 20 years he decided to remember his father by raising funds to study kidney in the UK.

“July marks the 20th anniversary of my father’s death, and I wanted to do something to commemorate him and raise money for his life,” Lim said.

“My father was born with kidney damage at a time when he was doing a lot of research and lost his kidney at the age of 28.

“Those who left him did not work as they should and this led to many complications that unfortunately led to his untimely death at the age of 47.

“My dad was very well known in youth football here and he trained in the Milk Cup, so that’s a big reason why I’m doing what I’m doing now as a client, trying to help the young players.

“He worked all his life, he was a fighter and my hero.”

It’s worth noting that the Belfast Marathon on May 1st will be my first.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge, but I’ve come a long way,” said an agent in Belfast who represents the stability of local players, including Northern Ireland internationals Jordan Thompson, Trey Hume and William Donnelly.

I hope the fitness, the adrenaline and the fans formed after training around me will help me.”

Lim has started raising money through the JustGiving page and if you want to help him run a marathon to support kidney research in the UK click here
