Athletic returned to work yesterday in Lezama after enjoying a rest day on Wednesday. This training session for the lions served to make it clear that Ernesto Valverde continues to lighten the number of players in his team. Malcom Adu Ares, who made his debut as a lion on Monday against Mallorca in San Mamés, and Luis Bilbao joined the Bilbao Athletic team yesterday.
Both will be, therefore, under the orders of Bingen Arostegi in the rojiblanco subsidiary. Agirrezabala’s injury and the physical problems suffered by Unai Simón during the preseason meant that both Iru and Padilla were in the first team discipline. Perhaps one of them, even while Agirrezabala is still out, will be the starter in the subsidiary when the competition starts.
We still have to wait to see what happens in the first team with one of the lions. Morcillo’s assignment is taken for granted and may not be the only one.
