Without a chicane or with a chicane, the Red Bull Ring continues to favor Ducati’s achievements and on this first day of the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix led by Johann Zarco, they completed a triple with Jack Miller and Jorge Martin and they scored seven of eight units in the top-10, all but rookie Di Giannantonio. Only Fabio Quiartararo, fourth, Maverick Viñales, ninth and Brad Binder, tenth, made it into the provisional top-10 that will fight directly for the pole.
But parity has been the maximum in that top-10 at 0″291 and the top-19 at 0″863. Riders like Aleix Espargaró or the two Suzukis of Rins and Mir who came to flirt with that provisional top-10 were relegated so they all put soft rubber at the rear for this third round of FP2.
The second free practice with Aprilia braking problems for Aleix Espargaró who after the first round was twenty-fifth and the last and had to regulate the engine brake because it was long in turn 5. But in the third that round competition for the Cup Ducati of the day arrived and except for the rookie Di Giannantonio all began to improve with the soft rubber
