Rookie Holgado opened his pole position record at the home of KTM

Date:

The pole for the Moto3 Austrian Grand Prix was scored by a rookie in these races, the Valencian Daniel Hongado, current FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 champion, who lasted a long time in the final stage by relegating T4 to Ayumu Sasaki and Deniz Oncu and won pole position at the home of the official KTM team where he rode.

With the possibility of a storm gradually increasing, all the pilots participating in Q2 completely left, so they opened the pitlane and put on tires for the time attack. The first provisional pole was recorded by Dennis Foggia with 1’41″632, which can still be improved as the Turkish Dennis Oncu still has the best time of the weekend with 1’41″285.

And Ayumu Sasaki -with a double long lap pending for this Sunday- was the only rider to cut that time with 1’41″244 on the second lap launched. After that first round the first provisional line was for Sasaki, Foggia and Suzuki with Izan Guevara fourth and leader Sergio García 13th.

In the last two minutes of the ‘qualy’, Dani Holgado, with a good benchmark, rose to second place 0″166 behind Sasaki and in his next lap he made a splash with 1’41″234, which took time in T4 and shared a front row with Sasaki and Oncu.

From the second, fifth place, Dennis Foggia will start, from the third – eighth- Izan Guevara and from the fourth – eleventh- the leader Sergio García Dols and his side Jaume Masià who suffered his second crash of the day Rookie David Muñoz was also 16th.

García Dols and Guevara will play again for the lead in a race that will start with a difference of 3 points in the table

Via Q1 Suzuki, Yamanaka, Kelso and Migno agreed and all the Spaniards involved were left: 19th Iván Ortolá, 21st Xavi Artigas, 22nd Adrián Fernández, 24th Carlos Tatay and 30th Ana Carrasco.
