The penultimate day of the Czech Republic Open was suspended due to heavy rains and the tournament will continue this Sunday with a course that will lead to a total of 54 holes.
This was announced by the organization through an official statement stating that the heavy rain started on Friday evening and continued throughout Saturday. In addition, he reported that “stagnant” water prevented the tournament from continuing.
“The third round, which began on Saturday morning, will now be completed on Sunday, August 21, with the winner to be decided after 54 holes.. Despite the efforts of the greens staff and volunteers, there was no way the course was playable for the rest of the day,” said David Williams, director of the Czech Republic Open.
After the day on Friday, Malaysian golfer Gavin Green led the tournament with a card of 130 strokes. (14 under par) followed by the Belgian Thomas Pieters, the German Marcel Schenider and the English Richard Mansel, the three in the second position by three shots. The best Spaniard, Pep Anglés, is in seventh place, five strokes behind Green.
