The Italian Edward Affini (Jumbo Visma) declared after wearing the red jersey “It’s crazy to be the leader of the Vuelta” and stressed that it was “a great gift” from all his colleagues.
“Being the leader of the general classification is an incredible feeling. It’s crazy to get this lead. I want to thank my team and my colleagues. They are thinking about it, and it was nice of them to give me this gift”, commented the Italian at the finish line in Breda.
Some special days in the Netherlands, as Jumbo Visma won the initial time trial in front of their fans, followed by the leadership of Dutchmen Robert Gesink and Mike Teunissen.
“It all started with a victory in the team time trial and It’s incredible to be able to share these moments with our team’s country. I think it was more special for my Dutch colleagues, but it was also for me.”
