George Prado (GasGas), after several races away from the positions he usually holds due to physical problems, reappeared in French GP, penultimate round of the MXGP Motocross World Championshipargued at Saint Jean d’Angely, where he ascended to third step of the podium and regained that position in general.
For the first time in a long time, overcoming physical problems, covid and even the set up of the motorcycle, the rider from Lugo is close to his best version and is back fighting with the best.
In the first round it didn’t go well, but with the strength of the claw and fight he got back to fourth place behind the Swiss. Jeremy Seewer (Yamaha), the Slovenian Tim Gajser (Honda), who is the world champion, and the French Romain Febvre (Kawasaki).
In the second he rediscovered himself. He hit his sixteenth ‘holeshot’ (the first when going through the initial curve) and commanded most of the test. He was only overtaken at the last moment by Gajser, with whom he finished second in the race and third in the Grand Prix afterwards. Gajser and Seewer.
“Since Lommel I have been suffering from my health condition, that I can hardly ride a motorcycle, but today I had a good start, I was comfortable in the lead and I only needed half a lap. I hope I can keep improving to make another step in Turkey and improve this position…I only need half a lap”, said the Galician driver.
Therefore, he overtook Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff in the overall standings and again finished third behind Gajser and Seewer, joint runner-up position.
The final test will be held on September 4, the Turkish GP, in Afyonkarahisar. On September 25, the Grand Prix of Nations will take place at the Red Bull circuit in Buchanan (Michigan, United States).
