Joan Bou: “It’s nice to wear the mountain jersey for more stages”

Joan Bou (Basque-Basque Country), mountain leader in the Vueltadid not intend to wear the “faralaes” jersey when he entered the first break of the day, but to his surprise he found himself strong against rivals he did not intend to overcome.

“The idea was to go out for the mountain jersey, both me and other colleagues. Building a breakaway was difficult, but eventually I was given a chance at a breakaway level. I didn’t see myself beating the runners who were in the break, but I achieved it, I was strong in the sprint and I achieved something very important for me and the team,” said the Valencian cyclist at the finish line.

From now on, more important mountain passes will come, with more points at stake, but Bou has announced that he will try to wear the jersey for a few more stages.

“I have won several prizes from the mountain in my career. Now the goal is to endure it as long as possibleIt will be nice to wear this jersey for another stage. Let’s see what there is. This is the goal of the team, both this jersey and to win a stage. We will fight all possible leaks,” he concluded.
