Real Sociedad hands over the Swede to the England team, becoming the most expensive sale in its history
Newcastle take over Alexander Isak after making Real Sociedad an irrefutable offer. The club ‘txuri urdin’ loses one of its most important assets, seven days before the end of the transfer market. The Swedish striker leaves for the English team for an amount of 70 million euros, making it the most expensive sale in Real’s history. The figure could be increased to 75 million because there are five million more in variables, in addition to the fact that the Basque club reserves 10% of a future sale, irrevocable conditions.
Newcastle has been chasing Isak all summer and has made a formal offer for the Swede. La Real have agreed to accept it as they consider it to be in their best interests and are going to the market to bolster their lead as they currently only have Jon Karrikaburu as a dedicated striker following Carlos Fernández’ injury.
Isak is leaving after the start of his fourth season as a player for Real Sociedad. The striker came over from Borussia Dortmund in an operation that ultimately brought in €10m, so Real recovered the investment in an absolutely brilliant way.
They are already building in a replacement for Isak on the ground floor of Anoeta, with seven days to go before the market closes.
