Spain finished 13th in an XCR test dominated by Switzerland

The Swiss team won the XCR test this Wednesday (team relay) of the mountain bike world championship, which also opened the world competition held in Les Gets (France), with teams from Italy and the United States in second and third place, respectively.

The Swiss teamconsisting of cyclists Dario Lillo (U23), Khalid Sidahmed (Junior), Ramona Forchini (Elite), Ronja Blochlingler (U23), Anina Hutter (Junior) and Nino Schutter (Elite), the race was completed in one hour, 17 minutes and 14 seconds despite the fact that Schutter finished the last lap with a flat tire, with a margin of only 6 seconds against the Italians, and 14 with respect to the Americans.

Thanks to this new victory, in addition, Switzerland has already accumulated 8 world gold medals in the list of winners in this mixed team relay category, and they will take the rainbow jersey until the next edition, next year.

For its part, the Spanish team, consisting of David Campos, Rocío García, Marta Cano, Joan Mir, Lucía Gómez and the Spanish champion, David Valero, finished the exam in thirteenth place (out of 18 contestants)more than 4 minutes from the winners.

The Spanish relay started in the same position, dropping the second and third poles to last placebut in the end caressing the top 10 of the race thanks to a brilliant last post by Valero, bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020 and a great Spanish asset for the world championship.

The next event for medals, which will be held on Thursday, is the XCO race of the junior category, both women and men, with Spain including Marta Cano, Duna Rodríguez and Eva González among the women, and Joan Mir, Vicent Zaragoza and Pablo García. Apart from this, the DH test classification will also be held for the Junior and Elite male and female categories.
