The new operational training center of the police in Vienna-Donaustadt was officially opened on Wednesday. However, the facility has long been used diligently: officials from the federal capital and Lower Austria have been training in the state-of-the-art center since the spring.
Various scenarios can be simulated in modern indoor shooting ranges and training rooms. The property houses areas for operational tactics and technology, shooting training (six indoor shooting ranges), and social and training spaces. According to the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft, which carried out the project, the training rooms are equipped with galleries from which the events can be observed and analyzed.
34 million euros invested
In order to meet the need for operational training opportunities in Vienna and Lower Austria, it was emphasized that the existing outdoor shooting range should be extended with suitable premises in Sessenbrunn. 34 million euros has been invested in the center.
Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) emphasized that it is the most modern facility of its kind in Europe. The opening of the ETZ marks an important day for security. The mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) and the governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) also attended the opening of the center.
