F1 Manager 2022: a wonderful madness

Date:

F1 is taking another step towards success. Not only has it re-emerged among young audiences thanks to its Netflix series, ‘Drive to Survive’, but also its important role in the video game market. At first, because of the great driving experience it offers year after year in its base game. But there is another path to explore: the ‘manager’ format which is loved by millions of players around the world in football or cycling sports games. Thus he was born F1 Manager 2022a product that surprises at first.

a perfect simulation

I’ve always loved piloting more than managing. I’m quite a messy and fickle person, so I wonder if F1 Manager 2022 This is a game that can appeal to me. I turned on my PS4 (will be available from August 25 for multiple platforms) and the adventure begins.

I start with doubt, but that feeling is erased from the second. The song of Formula 1 sounds and the ‘opening’ of the televisions are shown with the stars of the ‘Great Circus’. It’s impossible not to get excited. You realize what you’re going to live next, it’s impossible not to like it and get hooked.

F1 Manager 2022 offers you a big challenge: you won’t be driving. You will start to ‘drive’ everything the team does. And when I say everything, I mean everything, down to the smallest detail. You do this from the beginning, after choosing the team you want to lead. You can choose what you want, even start with a bang and make Toto Wollf at Mercedes, Chris Horner at Red Bull or Mattia Binotto at Ferrari. Once you accept, the journey begins. I chose Ferrari and became the boss of the legendary team of Maranello. They welcomed me by mail and showed me the equipment.

All control in your hands

The player, in front of him, is a panel, which will be the center of his experience as Team Principal. Here you will find several tabs in which to manage many aspects: email, staff, sponsors and their weekly and general goals, facilities and design. F1 Manager 2022 becomes a good challenge for any player where you get into specific details that you can also decide which parts of the car to study and develop into new evolution projects. But not only that, you can decide how many engineers to include in the project from the total you have and if that part should come in a hurry or if the engineers can devote themselves to other parts of the car.

The tension of a GP from inside the box

But the real magic comes with the actual racing experience. That’s when you realize more than ever the difficulty of decisions made by team leaders in a matter of seconds. And that’s when I fell in love with the game. I thought the fact of not driving left me halfway. But I was wrong. You get into the classification and the first thing you hear is the radio of your two pilots, in my case of Carlos Sainz and Leclerc, saying they’re ready to hit the track. You realize that this is not just any game, that the simulation experience is thought out in detail and allows you to enjoy it to the fullest, as if the race you are leading is really happening.

You give the order that each of your drivers enters the track exactly when you want, with a view of the general map of the circuit and knowing where your rivals are on the track. You choose the wheels to go with, and you can influence the pilot’s handling by telling him whether you want him to be conservative or aggressive.

And here’s the best part: When you give your drivers the ‘ok’ to enter the track, you can monitor everything they do from different cameras ‘on board’ and television. You will immerse yourself in the experience of a Mattia Binottofollowing the race with helmets of group radio and you listen to the pilot’s comments, indicating if something is found that slows him down on the track and different circumstances. And there you can make more influential decisions by having access to the specific state of the carwheels, time and telemetry.

Think about the feeling of racing. A wonderful madness. A perfect mix of data and various variables that puts you in the position of the best in Principal Teams. Managing an F1 team can be just as fun, difficult and challenging as driving a car. I didn’t think about it.
