The Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), fifth in Formula One World Championshipdeclared this Friday in the circuit of Spa-Francorchampsafter setting fifth time in free practice for the Belgian Grand Prix, is “optimistic” and believes they are “well placed for the rest of the weekend”.
“Overall, it was a good weekend. In the first practice I felt comfortable with the balance of the car. For the second free practice we tried to make some changes that didn’t work as we wanted; and we lost. quite a bit it feels good”Sainz, 27, commented that this season, by winning at Silverstone (England), he signed his first victory in F1.
“However, I am optimistic and I am convinced that we will know where to find the lap time with a view to tomorrow”directed the talented drivers from Madrid, who are fifth in the World Cup, 102 out of 258 points led by Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who this Friday set the best time in practice.
“The pace was also good on the long runs so I think we’re in a good place for the rest of the weekend”said Sainz, who has twelve podium finishes since he entered the premier class, six of them this season and ten with Ferrari.
