After five match points and almost two hours of play, the Russian Daria Kasatkina added his top seed status to raise his career tally to six after winning the tournament final Granby WTA (Canada) to Australian Daria Saville.
The tenth player in the world won by double 6-4 and avoided the reaction of the oceanic, who fought back, broke in the penultimate game and served to level the set.
Kasatkina beat Seville for the third time, 73 in the women’s ranking, trying to get her second trophy, the first of the season. He did not extend the final and left it empty.
The Russian achieved his second victory of the season in Grandby after the one achieved in San José to bolster the set-up before the start of the US Open.
