The city of Murcia, through the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports, will invest 1,200,000 euros in the renovation of the air conditioning of the Palacio de los Deportes. The technical project for this action has already been drawn up and will soon enter the public procurement phase.
“We are going to put an end to a problem that has increased in recent years and which the previous political leaders of the ministry have failed to address. Work has been done to prepare a project for the complete replacement of the current machines, with the idea that the Palacio de los Deportes has a completely renovated facility and in accordance with the needs it requires,” said the Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Pedro Garcia Rex.
The continuous deterioration of the air conditioning of the Palacio de los Deportes led to a permanent malfunction, which is currently being repaired by municipal technicians. Today they carry out extraordinary maintenance work for the repair of the compressor. Some of the works that include cleaning the insides of condensers with acid, installing a series of automatic resets and locating possible leaks, while replacing the cooling tower tires.
The complete renovation of the air conditioning of the Palacio de los Deportes is one of the actions envisaged in the modernization plan of the sports facilities of the municipality, carried out by the Ministry of Sports under the direction of Pedro García Rex and that will be in its first phase , an investment of 4 million euros.
In this plan, other actions for this facility are envisaged, such as a new video scoreboard system for the main track, already in the tender procedure for a value of approximately EUR 300,000.
In addition, the project to replace the current public address system has also progressed and other actions are planned, such as the new lighting of the main track, the repair and waterproofing of the main roof, the replacement and installation of television cameras, the replacement of the chlorination of drinking water, repair of wells, replacement of sewage pumps and replacement of flashing lights.
