The presidential building of the Turkish Football Federation headquarters was attacked on Thursday while the Board of Directors was in a meeting, but no one was injured. It is known that up to seven bullets hit the building. One of them would have entered the room during the meeting and hit the curtain located near Hamit Altıntop, a former football player of Real Madrid and Galatasaray and current member of the federation board. He was saved at the last moment. “My friends on the board of directors thought I was hurt. God protects us. I hope they find the criminals,” Altintop reportedly said.
“A number of unknown persons carried out an armed attack on our administration building in our camp and training facilities of the Riva Hasan Doğan national teams,” said the Federation’s own statement. “Our security forces were able to catch the perpetrators of the attack in a very short time in the operation they started. We have no doubt that Turkish justice will give those responsible for the incident the punishment they deserve,” they added.
