Nice signed English midfielder Ross Barkley today, after leaving Chelsea, and tonight they presented him to the fans at the Allianz Riviera ahead of the Côte d’Azur derby against Monaco.
Barkley, 28, and Chelsea decided to part ways on Monday by mutual agreement, with Nice able to include him in their squad after the end of the Ligue 1 transfer market on Thursday.

Used to Everton, Barkley participated in the 2014 World Cup with the English team, whose shirt he defended 33 times although he has not done so since 2019, and arrived at Chelsea in January 2018 when he was considered one of the best players in the Premier.
But, in four and a half years at Stamford Bridge, Barkley only played 58 games in the English championship and was even loaned out to Aston Villa in the 2020-2021 season.
Barkley, who has yet to make it to the Conference League, is Nice’s 12th signing, joining Kasper Schmeichel, Aaron Ramsey and Nicolas Pépé.
