Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will be out for a month with a thigh injury sustained in Saturday’s derby against Liverpool.
The goalkeeper, who made a record eight saves in the goalless draw against Liverpool, will miss his team’s games against Italy and Germany in the Nations League on September 23-26. He will also miss Everton’s matches against Arsenal and West Ham United as his recovery period is four weeks after the tests he underwent.
Pickford is the favorite in the race to defend the goal at the World Cup in Qatar, with Dean Henderson, Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale also likely to convince Three Lions coach Gareth Southgate.
