Another fine for Kyrgios before leaving New York

Date:

the australian Nick Kyrgios he confessed “broken” after losing to the Russian Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals of the US Open, in five sets. Wimbledon finalist, champion executioner and world number one Daniel Medvedev in New York, he aspired to many things, but he could not fulfill his great dream.

Frustrated, he paid the racket. The first one broke after it fell three times to the ground. He can’t get enough of it. As Khachanov congratulated the crowd and received a standing ovation as the winner and new player in the semi-finals, Kyrgios broke the second racket.

He had already thrown one during the crash, though without that violence. It is more a sign of desperation, with a certain tenderness.

The main referees noticed the behavior of the ‘aussie’, who was punished with the biggest fine so far in the event: $14,000 (a little more in euros).

He has starred in other episodes. For “spitting and audible obscenities”, to a member of his box, he is paid an amount close to $11,000.

He left the final Grand Slam of the season with a total of 32,500 dollars, minus the 473,200 he pocketed: 445,000 in singles and 28,200 in doubles, after sharing the prize of 56,400 with his compatriot equally Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The ‘aussie’ pocket will not suffer as much, the displacement will be harder to assimilate. He emphasized his low mood and the relevance of Grand Slams. “The only tournaments that matter. The rest does not count,” he said.
