The “BMW PGA Championship” tournament held at the Wentworth Club has been suspended after hearing the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England.
In a brief note it stated that “on behalf of our partners and all people associated with the European Tour group and the BMW PGA Championship, we received with great sadness the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She true inspiration to people around the world. Out of respect for Her Majesty and the Royal Family, play in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club will be suspended for the remainder of Thursday and flags at Wentworth Club will be lowered to half-mast”.
The Wentworth club will remain closed and organizers have indicated that “the resumption of play will be reported in due courseto end the note with: “Our deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this time.”
