Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) will be in charge of unveiling a glass sculpture of the runner himself in an act that will take place in Las Rozas (Madrid) next Sundaybefore the dispute in the final stage of the Vuelta, which will also be one of the Murcian’s withdrawal from the Spanish round.
The athlete’s sculpture, made with recycled glass by Ecovidrio, recognizes Valverde’s commitment to cycling and the promotion of recycling as an exemplary behavior in environmental protection.
This is one of the tributes in honor of Alejandro Valverde, 42, native of Las Lumbreras (Murcia), whose record includes 133 victories as a professional and podium places in three great stage tours, with an overall victory in the Vuelta 2009.
